March 17Mar 17 I have been researching Hydroponics in Thailand quite extensively over past 2 years. Now I want to put my research into practice.I have 8 rai of land with ready infrastructure in Buriram province.I plan to pilot a 300 sq mt covered hydroponic grow area in a professional method. The target being to develop a small commercial set up focused on consistent quality production for local markets, restaurants/hotels, shops and through an onsite farm shop. This can be scaled up as the market share and awareness of produce develops. My research covers from Seedling right through to Sales of crops. Best Crop options, Pro's & Cons ofclimate, solar power, cooling, humidity, profitability, etc etc... Far too much to write here..Whilst I have developed a passion for hydroponics and have a keen interest to start this pilot, I realise that my project on a commercial basis would be best suited to having a person(partner) with hydroponic growing experience.I am looking to connect with person(s) who has real experience in Hydroponics and is interested to build something together. If this is of interest to you please do connect and we can privately discuss the potential within this opportunity. Also explore the crop options I have in mind..I would welcome latest advice on best contacts for Hydroponic equipment and nutrients in Thailand.Other relevant suggestions and genuine experienced pro's and cons advice will be appreciated.Any successful stories for Hydroponics DWC or NFT or any disasters may be useful also..Thanks for reading this far..Joe
March 17Mar 17 Heck, I just want to grow a few Green Peppers and Tomatoes. Everyone and their sister are growing hydroponic lettuce. Like you, I'd be interested in some advice on super-small size hydroponics for home.
March 17Mar 17 AN has or did have a hydrophonic/aquaphonic site. There are some very knowledgeable people on it. :)
March 18Mar 18 Why not take it even further and do aquaphonics. This would allow you to cut out most of your nutrient needs. Nutrients in Thailand are hit and miss at times. There is a foreigner in thailand who makes some good nutrients for the cannabis market though.
March 18Mar 18 Yes, I've got a split system but in mothballs at present until I just installed solar power. The 24/7 air pumps for the fish tanks and 24/7 water pumps got too expensive.

I have looked into aquaponics. It appears much more complex in balancing fish, bacteria and plants. Also the growth is slower against hydroponics, the set up cost is more and I need more skill/experience to start off. Also if fish die or get bacterial/fungal/parasitic infections or a range of other issues, the whole system crashes.Aquaponics may be good for home use but on a commercial basis it has more cons than hydroponics. I plan to keep potential problems to a minimum and within my capabilities.

The only Hydroponics thread I found was from 2007.Which is surprising as I thought many more persons would be interested in hydroponics even just for personal consumption.
