JimsKnight Posted November 2, 2007 Posted November 2, 2007 To the gamers out there: Got a bit of a dilemma when it comes to buying the latest, top end graphics card for my pc. The best price I can get for a top-end graphics card here in CM is around 22,700 baht for an ASUS NVIDEA GT 8800 768 MB. I've found that if I buy from the States or the UK the price is around half that and less (although shipping adds a bit). I can go for the budget options of 3000 - 6000 baht but these tend to struggle to cope with the latest games we're seeing now. Thoughts and views appreciated. JK
Dissolution Posted November 2, 2007 Posted November 2, 2007 I hear the 320mb is fine. Personally, I'm running a 640mb variant, and I'm having no problems whatsoever. What games do you play/intend to play?
sniffdog Posted November 2, 2007 Posted November 2, 2007 (edited) There is no 8800 GT 320/640 mb version. If you're in for a 8800 GT which is a better deal (and will even get better in due time) and faster than the GTS, you might take a look at the 8800 GT OC at THB 9,900. http://busitek.com/forms/pricelist.html I have a 8800 GTS (320 mb). Most games who evaluate my system, set it straight to 1680 x 1050 and the (almost) highest settings. Edited November 2, 2007 by sniffdog
Dissolution Posted November 3, 2007 Posted November 3, 2007 You misunderstood my reply, I think. I was referring to the 8800 series, not necessarily GT specifically. The 640 I mentioned above is an ASUS EN8800GTS, incidentally, and most games I play give me the capped FPS at highest detail settings.
Wolfie Posted November 3, 2007 Posted November 3, 2007 (edited) I also have the 8800GTS (320mg) and i have found it handles anything on the market currently at about 60/75fps Edited November 3, 2007 by Wolfie
Tywais Posted November 3, 2007 Posted November 3, 2007 I also have the 8800GTS (320mg) and i have found it handles anything on the market currently at about 60/75fps A little off topic but have you tried the Crysis demo yet? Suspect that game will give the card a real workout. I'm waiting for availability of the 8800GT in Thailand to get it. Even many of the major sites in the US show it out of stock due to the high demand.
a1ka1ine Posted November 3, 2007 Posted November 3, 2007 get in thailand, if your not home when the package gets delivered, picking it up from customs is a total nightmare and it took me 3 hours and a translator to get my laptop from customs, and i was grilled on everything and had to show it and stuff, thought i was gonna get deported! lol its a shame cutting edge technology isnt available in thailand, im eager to get my hands on 3 solid state drives so i can put them in a raid in my laptop , i see they are in stock (from time to time) at my home site of http://www.overclockers.co.uk which i used to always use, but in thailand ppl in pantip havent even heard of solid state let alone have it in stock.
