Hi Guys,

I'm a Brit residing in Chiang Mai with a company work permit and non-imm B. Both expire in around 1 month. We used to out source the paperwork to an accountant but she has become greedy, and I nearly lost the non-imm B because she made a mistake last year.

If I do the whole thing myself, what's the procedure and what docs do I need to show to who and when?

Any links?

Any advice?

Cheers

I wouldn't advise trying to do it yourself unless you are fluent in Thai (speaking and reading) and are willing to spend a few days collecting all the docs (there are many) and visiting Immigration and Labor Departments yourself.

I just renewed my visa and work permit this week. Company did all the docs, all I had to do was sign my name a few dozen times on copies of docs (most of which Immigration and Labor Dept already have from last year), and then wait around all morning at Immigration as you have to show your face there (but not at Labor Dept). The girl doing the work forgot 2 docs (there is a page-long list in Thai only), so she had to go back to company, make copies, get company stamp and signature from CEO, return to Immigration, get temporary visa extension stamp, take everything to Labor Department, get work permit updated, go back to Immigration department for 1-year extension stamp.

Note this is the fastest it has been for me - other years it has taken weeks. Do you really want to do all that yourself, even if you could ? How much did the "greedy" accountant want ? And how much is your time worth ?

A Thai mamber of staff will do the admin just need to know what she has to do. The previous accountant wanted over 20K + normal visa/wp fees.
