churchill
The Paper says - Probably not a very good translation but - He was arrested for writing a cheque for 750,000 baht for Coco 66 holdings ( presumably his housing project ? ) without funds . He was trying to obtain a Visa to go to Taiwan . The paper says the cheque was written a year ago and the order to arrest him was made a year ago ?? and he was caught due to his recent visa application . So if the order was made to arrest him a year ago why didn't the police do it ? This is Samui , Thailand !

churchill
I imagine that he was not arrested straight away as he negotiated with the court to repay the debt but was arrested as it seems he was trying to leave the country . Only speculation !
sbk
I don't see it on the daily news online edition either. We get the Bangkok Post a day late here, I'll try to pick one up in town in the morning and see what the article says, that is if nobody posts anything more substantial before then. SamuiRes
The Police did not do anything because they knew the matter was in hand and had been effectively resolved apart from some paperwork withdrawing the complaint. Immigration however saw an opportunity to make a few bucks selling a story to the Press when he applied for a re-entry permit for a business trip. It was a set up - how many times to do you go to Immigration and find a Newspaper photographer waiting for you? Anyway - it has gone away, there are no charges and the whole thing once again has been blown out of all proportion. sbk
Saw the Bangkok Post article, all it says was the he was arrested on a year old charge of bouncing a check. That he was arrested at Samui Immigration making preparations to go to Taiwan. If you want more "gos" suggest you go ask the man himself Unless anyone has further information besides conjecture I don't really see any need to leave a thread open that could end up libellous and defamatory. Please PM me if you have published facts regarding this case and I will be happy to re-open it for discussion. ///CLOSED///
