eljeque
I just returned from a trip to Savanakhet for a visa. Arrived at Mukdahan bus station at 8:10AM Arrived at the Thai Consuate in Savanakhet at 10:00AM Showed bank book copies AND ORIGINALS!! Photocopy the current page and the front page with your name. Next afternoon, 2:00PM picked up passport with visa and was on my way. I had 3 years worth of visas from Cambodia runs and also five 2-month visas from consulates (Penang 2, Savanakhet 1 Singapore 2) and a one month extension for each. Have lunch on the floating restaurant near to the consulate. Good food and a great atmosphere.

I have a question; Why did u need to show copies off yr. bank book ? Is that a new rule ? Last time I was in KL(june '07) they didn't ask for that. This month I have to go again to KL( I booked flight already) Do they still give 2 month tourist visa ?? Regards, Caldo26
cali4995
From the topic title it appears a 60 day tourist visa was received. A couple of months ago, the Savannakhet consulate introduced some new financial requirements for applicants of tourist visas. Unwritten changes which don't appear publicly in any form. As of this date, the exact new requirements are still not clear. It might be easier just to call them and get a straight answer. ------------------------------------------- http://www.thaiembassy.org/savannakhet P.O.Box 513, Khanthabouly District, Savannakhet Province Lao P.D.R. Savanna
Am I reading this correctly? You can get a tourist visa and then just do visa runs once in Thailand to renew it every 30 or 60 or 90 days??
lopburi3
No. If you qualify for visa exempt entry you can exit/return to obtain a new 30 day entry stamp up to a total of 90 days in a six month period.
eljeque
I have a question; Why did u need to show copies off yr. bank book ? A couple of month ago, one poster mentioned that bank book copies were being requested. Is that a new rule? It was being enforced, rule or not. Last time I was in KL(june '07) they didn't ask for that. It had only been mentioned pertaining to Svanakhet. This month I have to go again to KL( I booked flight already) Do they still give 2 month tourist visa ?? I have not seen much posted on KL. Start a new thread and ask. I am sure that lot of people who travel to KL regularly will have information. Good luck
cali4995
It probably need not be said, but I'm not sure why a genuine tourist would have a local bank book with more of a balance they they could spend in 2-3 months. The official requirement before was showing 20K THB. I can understand that, I could even understand 30-40K THB. This other talk about 6 months of income statements is where I started to lose the plot. I might just pay the receptionist at the apartment a couple hundred baht to call the consulate and ask what the requirements are. She's certainly bright enough and if they can't itemize them to her simply then it's clear they're just creating a fog of confusion to keep people away.
