Bangkok Post has an article on Pavana in their "About Politics" section yesterday, sadly it is not on their online edition(!)

"Ms Pavena, chairwoman of the Pavena Hongsakula Foundation and also Chart Thai party member, is a familiar sight in the media. She takes abused children and women to press conferences to highlight their troubles. Recently she exposed the ordeal of women supposedly drugged into having sex with men they know casually. The men invite women to drink coffee mixed with sex stimulant drugs, which she claims make them sexually submissive to the men. ..."

Cripes if this isn't the biggest load of attention wh ing or something I don't know. Amazing the bullpucky the media dutyfully prints arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

She takes abused children and women to press conferences to highlight only herself. She is some sort of ex-beauty queen, and seems capable of anything to get her silly face into the spotlight; regardless of how ridiculous the "reason."

I suppose in Thailand we should all be grateful to be able to have this silly story to laugh at. If the young woman was in England and she had sex with a guy and then regretted it, or got found out and was ashamed or in trouble with her parents, or he didn't call her the next day, she would be screaming rape and the authorities would have been bound to investigate the man with all the attendant devastation for his life.

As it is, she claimed to be drugged with a drug that no drug in the world can have the affects ascribed so we know the story is bullshit.

If she'd just said she'd been raped we'd never know.

I've tried one of the supposed aphrodsiac coffees that they're talkling about on the news. It is mixed with warm water and tastes like a regular, very sweet coffee. Works like viagra (takes 40-60 mins to kick in, and gives extremely hard erections whenever drinker is sexually stimulated), effects last up to 6-8 hours. Gives. flushed face, stuffy nose effect once it starts to work, also like viagra.

It is packaged as "Magic Men's Coffee" with the appropriate picture of a stallion on the front. Sells for 150-200 bht for a box with 2 packets inside.

This c#$p with Paveena coming out is another pathetic show of how misinformed the Thai public are and how easily they can be led. Most Thais still believe Viagra actually makes you horny.

p.s. and like someone else here said, first date at a guys house after meeting on the internet? Maybe she thought they'd just eat popcorn and watch cartoons after dinner.....

She is no ex-beauty queen. Her sister Apasara was, however, Miss Thailand and Miss Universe 1965.

Pavena has her days, sometimes she does good stuff - but this coffee nonsense I'm not so sure about.

And you can see it's the same packet as in the picture in post#47 because of the stripe on the left hand side.

I actually heard from a reliable source that this product is/was the victim of a smear campaign by some competitors because of it's instant popularity due to it's cheap price and 'solid' results. It was in the Thai newspapers a couple of months ago.

This incident probably has nothing to do with that, but still who knows?

Women lured into sex by aphrodisiac coffee, juice

Pavena issues warning after victims speak out

A warning has been issued by a women's foundation about coffee and orange juice said to be spiked with a sex stimulant being given to unsuspecting women. Sold as instant coffee and orange juice in packets, the drink is suspected to be heavily laced with an aphrodisiac. It leaves drinkers excessively aroused, according to Pavena Hongsakula, chairwoman of the Pavena Hongsakula Foundation for Women and Children. She said the drink is especially dangerous to women because it triggers an uncontrollable urge to have sex with the men who set out to take advantage of them. Pavena said she was told about it three weeks ago by a university student named Bee. The young woman said she knew a man through an internet contact and the two eventually met in person over a meal at the man's house. The man made her a cup of coffee which he said was a new formula health drink. Bee drank the coffee and shortly afterward she felt a surge of arousal and an instant desire for sex. She then agreed to sleep with the man, Pavena said. After the girl returned home, she regretted losing control of herself. She suspected she had been under the influence of the coffee. Pavena said her foundation heard a similar story from a bar hostess. A bar patron offered her a cup of coffee which smelt very aromatic and tasted sweet. About 10 minutes after drinking it, she became dazed and felt a ''sudden unstoppable sexual excitement'' which drove her to have sex with the customer.

I've had the same reaction from bar hostesses after buying them a few San Mig lights or Spys. Maybe the authorities should investigate those drinks as well. There must also be a chemical on some 1000 baht notes because that also has the same effect.

IF this the actual product being investigated, then it's illegally labeled as the only difference with this and any other instant coffee is the Medlar, which has ZERO aphrodisiac properties.

If they've included some other unlisted ingredient, such as Viagra, which btw, does nothing for sexual desire, then it's extremely dangerous as Viagra is not a completely innocuous drug and has potentially fatal side effects.
