I can't speak for DJ Pat, but I assume because whoever it is that flies to Samui (I forget Thai Airways or Bangkok Airways) has a monoply (sp?) on it so charge silly prices, whereas if you fly to Surat Thani you can get it a fair bit cheaper?

Thats' no use if you've got thousands of air miles on THAI AIRWAYS to use up. Only Bangkok Airways can use Samui airport.
