Picture courtesy of Khaosod. Police are seeking the arrest of three foreign nationals in connection with a cache of 25 semi-automatic firearms found concealed in microwave ovens destined for shipment to Moscow, Russia. Officers at Bang Na Police Station launched the investigation following a report from a private international shipping company. The firm discovered suspicious packages, containing firearms hidden inside microwaves, while preparing them for export. Police revealed on 27 July that they had identified three suspects, including one woman, through CCTV analysis. Arrest warrants are now being sought from the Bangkok South Criminal Court. The weapons were discovered at CDEK BKK, a courier service based on Udom Suk 31 Road in Phra Khanong district. Staff had been inspecting parcels received via Lalamove, another delivery platform, when they uncovered the arms cache in eight boxes on 25 July. Under orders from Pol. Lt. Gen. Siam Boonsom, Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police Bureau, forensic teams examined the recovered items, which included: • 25 semi-automatic pistols • 13 legally registered firearms • 12 unregistered, illegal weapons • 19 fully assembled firearms • 2 firearms with mismatched serial numbers between barrel and grip • 3 firearms with matching serial numbers but components placed in different boxes • 1 firearm with entirely non-matching serial numbers Additional items seized as evidence included: • 5 silencers • 5 optical sights • 7 component parts • 3 cleaning kits • 1 instruction manual CCTV footage provided vital leads in the case. At the Udom Suk branch: • On 15 July at 19:03, a bald man delivered a single microwave box • On 22 July at 12:39, a man driving a Toyota Altis delivered one box • Later that evening, at 19:04, another individual in a four-door pickup dropped off two more boxes Further suspicious activity was observed at the company’s Silom branch: • On 22 July at 15:06, a woman brought in a box labelled as a battery charger • On 23 July at 10:49, two men on a motorcycle delivered three similar boxes Police believe these deliveries were part of a coordinated international arms trafficking attempt. The investigation remains ongoing as authorities continue efforts to locate and arrest the individuals involved. Adapted by Asean Now from Khoasod 2025-07-28 -

Thai - Cambodia Conflict US Again Urges Thailand to De-escalate Border Conflict with Cambodia
Picture courtesy of Khaosod. The United States has called on Thailand to immediately de-escalate tensions with Cambodia and agree to a ceasefire amid an ongoing border dispute between the two nations. In an official statement released by US State Department spokesperson Tammy Bruce, it was confirmed that US Secretary of State Marco Rubio held a telephone discussion with Thai Foreign Minister Maris Sengyempong earlier on 27 July. Secretary Rubio expressed deep concern over the escalating violence and stressed the urgent need for restraint. He urged the Thai government to reduce hostilities and commit to a ceasefire agreement with Cambodia to avoid further destabilisation in the region. The US diplomat also underscored President Trump’s strong desire for peace and reiterated Washington’s position that an immediate halt to the fighting is essential. “The United States stands ready to facilitate future discussions aimed at fostering peace and stability between Thailand and Cambodia,” the statement read. The border conflict between the two Southeast Asian neighbours has intensified in recent weeks, drawing concern from international observers. This latest intervention by Washington reflects growing international pressure on both sides to pursue diplomatic solutions. Adapted by Asean Now from Khoasod 2025-07-28
