I know I've probably spelt Mae Sei wrong but does anyone know what time the first bus goes from the bus station, if it's direct, the time of the bus coming back and if I get a move on what time I'll be back.

I want to do this trip cheaply.

The VIP express bus leaves CM at 0800 and arrives in Mae Sai just before noon. On the way back you have a choice of 15:30 or 16:30 departure.

The Bus code # is V 400 in the morning and V 403 for the 15:30 bus. It's 375 baht each way. Not a bad idea to take a long sleeve something with you because they like to run the air conditioner at meat locker temperatures.

Be sure to buy your ticket two days in advance! Last time I went to Mae Sai in June I went to Arcade 24 hours in advance and tickets were all sold out. I had to take the regular bus and it was no way near as comfortable as the VIP.

Green is indeed a fine company. The VIP buses are the most comfortable of any buses I have ridden in Thailand.
