he you go to tourist areas you will meet a lot of people only interested in beer and birds ,go to restaurants and find out where expats go ,most people who live here find the novilty of the bars and girls soon wear off ,and live a normal life away from the sordid industry,saying that its nice to go there once in a while

Well you have to look at it from a different point of view. To a "farang" the concept of paying a girls parents for the oppertunity of marriage is rather mundane, and in some farangs eyes it is considered obsurd if not flat out stupid. Also the concept of funding a girls family every month seems more like a rental agreement to a lot of farangs.

I do neither, I would not buy my wife or rent her for that matter. Maybe that is why my in-laws dislike me so much.... regardless I don't care if they like me or not. Which is another cultural issue. To a lot of falangs, the in-laws always are a source of contention... it is a fact of nature, and we do not sweat it, rather we expect it.

So it may not be that farang guys are bad, it is more of a matter of farang guys do not define a "relationship" in the same way as you.

As another has said previously, you are most likely looking in the wrong places. So get out of the go go bars and freelance bars, if that's where your looking, and you might be lucky to find a westener who might take a chance on you. And once found, you might keep him if you keep the "brother" out of the way, and don't let him feel your with him for financial purposes only. You could try what teacup does, flirt with the males on this website and you might find someone (just don't let your husband know).

Maybe the OP isn't an overseas university graduate from a wealthy influential family.

Apparently the majority of Farangs ( on this Forum ) are able to choose from the upper echelons of Thai society, so maybe the OP isn't up to the high standards set by the discerning Farangs of Thailand.

A poster on another topic was using a Thai author? as a source. 30% of the women between ages of 15 and 50 had "sold it" during their life time, do not know what the marrige % is but would think 50% range would be a reasonable guesstimate. Doubt if most of the 'good guys are interested in those females under 21+-. knocking them out, sick, crazies, ladyboys. those leaning toward females, men haters, etc it would appear both the good boys and "good girls" may be nearing the status of the dodo. Hmm, the posters are correct, very few single farangs will be in thailand for the non human scenery. The farangs that live in thailand will tend to mix together and either live a life of debauchery (not critiscism) or have thai wife or girlfriend.

However it is not true that all the men who come to thailand for the girls are bad people (many are) but a significant number come because they have been sickened by the attitudes of women at home. This also explains why the majority are in the 50+ age group. They dream of a woman with "old fashioned values of loyalty duty and family, to find this in someone 20 years younger is an absolute magnetic draw.

Again however, these desires are dreams and we all know that life hardly ever lives up to our dreams (unless you are very lucky like me) Thai women are as human as westerners and have just as many emotions and predjudices, they are just different.

Its the same old story, not every bar girl is a slag but neither is she going to be a virgin bride.

Exactly!! I think in here, There art good and bad but I met almost bad..But Thai girl I agree that some people want money.. and tell her reason that help her family. I think this wrong but almost farang guy like women like this haha I think. Sometime I pretty pity some farang guy dont know his's girl many boy..Just real life..Whos know!! Maybe some thai girl dot know her's boy many girl.. I just hope see some people make me change my thinking about farang guy in thailand..I had exbf from in and out why I think about it!!

I can appreciate the values you mention although in my case I met my wife in the UK, I'm the younger side of 40 and shes older than me !!!

Certainly (unless within family circles) we tend to socialise with other thai/farang couples but there are also a good number of single farangs who work hard have their own appts etc within the social group.

Nb-a point here may be that this is in a non-touristy environment.

Searachan - can you explain why you say you only meet bad farangs e.g where you meet or what happens and what your expectations are ??
