Don't ever buy a Mondeo unless you have a lot of money for repairs to spend. Auto Gearbox is a common problem with the Mondeo. More common problems: Engine management system, wiring isolation creating shorts in cirquits, AC allways problems. Engine swap sit very difficult, becsause it's a front wheel drive car. It is possible but very time consuming, driveshafts have to be converted. This is the big problem to cut, convert and balance them. It will never 100% balanced. You will allways have some vibration when you accelerate. If you consider a engineswap, buy a real wheel drive vehicle. Otherwise you will get a lot of headache.
