Are Thai Policemen Underpayed?

How do you think, what is the reason for their weakness and incompetence (and maybe lack of motivation)?

salary is one: 8000 baht per month

losing face is another. don't ever want to be proved wrong and must not upset the boss so always indecisive

poor education, no training

spineless character. no conflict pervades in thai culture. they have never been invaded so run awayn is the learned option

They probably don't want to go into the airport because they can't make any money out of it. Better to catch Farang not wearing helmet, that pays much better.

I encourage you to boycott the Thai police.

When caught tipsy (or under influence of other substancies) riding your motorbike on your way home from one of the go-go bars, without valid driving licence, just say: mai bpen rai, officer, mai bpen rai. :o

You can add that you were counting on them while Suvarnabhumi airport was (about to be) closed.

That 8000 Baht, is that including tips or are those extra? :o

8000 + extras(tea money).

genrally around 20-25 K for a normal officer

Area officer maybe 100 K + ( chaweng sub district officer drives a nice BMW 7 series )

Chief of Police in Samui 250 - 500 K a month ++++++++ ( drives a nice new land rover )
