Public Swimming Pools

Hey folks,

I'm wondering if anyone knows of any publically accessible swimming pools here. I know the hotels all have them but I feel a bit strange waltzing in there and going for a dip.

Any others that don't require an expensive annual membership?

I'm out near Seacon Square so anything in the SE part of town would be fine, also near the skytrain and subway too.

cheers.

Thanks for that. How long is the pool?

have you checked out the new park at Asoke and Sukhumvit? Next to the Tobacco Monopoly, it has a huge lake. No swimming unfortunately but it's a nice spot for a walk.

I haven't gone inside, but it's an open air pool and i saw it from the outside - it looks about 20-25 metres.

If you are refering to the park next to the emporium on sukhumvit rd, i use to go jogging there, and it a beautifully kept park - better than lumpini in my opinion. It's great, especially in bangkok, just to see some greenery, i think. There also a nice park up near mo chit bts, next to the weekend market.

I agree about the park near Emporium. It's nice. that's called Benjasiri. But the new park I'm talking about is south on Asoke about 5-10 mins walking on Ratchapisek. It's huge although its mostly taken up with a lake. But lots of space for running, exercising, etc. This one is called Benjakiti. Check it out man. It's a breath of fresh air on Suhkumvit.

Which end of Lumpini is the pool at? (ie which skytrain stop would be closer?)

Wow ! the new park looks great - i'll definitely check it out. To get to the pool, get off at the bts station at the top of silom rd - i can't remember the name - then walk through the main entrance and turn right - it's about 100yds down on the right hand side.

There is a large swimming pool, exercise room and locker room at Goethe Institute on Soi Goethe off Sathorn Soi One, a 10-minute walk from Lumpini subway station. You can join for a month for 1200B, a locker is 100B. It's month by month, so you can drop membership and then rejoin later.
