WOW! Is everyone in Thailand using Canon Powershot S5 IS? Seems like most of pictures posted here was taken with this camera :D

Beautiful capture I must add :o

They are good pictures.

But how the bloody hel_l do you capture a lightning strike, is it a case of quick reflexes? (I know nothing about photography).

keep the shutter open

first you need a tripod or a stable platform, open the shutter for 30 seconds (only works at night), use self timer mode if you dont have a cable release... (the camera cannot be moved while the shutter is open!). BTW, same method used for capturing fireworks.

you will get another chance tonight around 5-6pm from what I see outside.

These shots were actually taken using a motion detection script. Just set up the variables and let mother nature do the rest.

The script can be loaded on almost any modern Canon Digital camera. Do a google for CHDK.

Excellent pictures. Do you do this as a hobby? Any more pictures of other things?

Thanks, and yes, photography is one of my hobbys. I have been known to sell a few prints now and again and occasionally get asked if I can do photo jobs - not often enough though :o

I don't have much of my work online at the moment, but a small selection can be seen here.
