Current "longhorn" Os Release Schedule

For info:

According to internal memos, the following is reportedly Microsoft's new schedule of release dates for Longhorn:

Beta 1 code complete - March 16, 2005 -

Beta 1 internal release and domain rollout - April 2005

Beta 2 (and product) code complete - July 1, 2005

Beta 2 internal release - 3rd.Qtr 2005

Beta 2 public release - September 2005 (PDC 2005)

Release Candidate 0 (RC0) internal release - Q4 2005

Release Candidate 1 (RC1) internal release - March 2006

Release to manufacturing (RTM) - May 2006

Final version should be in stores 2006.

once I install a "longhorn" skin on a test machine running xp ..

UGLY :D:o

they should hire some designers ... :D

very right darknight :D ... we'll have to follow if want to keep it up to date,

so many people are going to jump on this, we'd better know a bit before.

some windows torture sessions ahead :D

lol. Some people are hard to please. Your wrong... One of Longhorn's 4 pillars called Avalon is a brand new presentation rendering system. You guys will be blown away when native Avalon based apps start appearing.

Let me give you an example. The groovy Word like toolbars that cost MS a squilion $ to develop for the Office suite will be enabled to developers of even the smallest projects.

I've just started developing with the beta and AXML... it's amazing.

I just read something about the new windows ...

a lot of us would have to make a real harware upgrade ...

it's talking about 3d gui, and this include PCI express and at least 128mo ram on video ... no less than 3ghz processor, 1gb ram in dual-channel ... (minimum requirements)

all this if we want to get all the features of it ...

I'll think twice and may be more as my machine is working prefectly fast enough for what I have to do with, no need for 3d look ...
