Hi Guys,

Just wondering if anybody has found a shop in Pattaya where I can get sliding insect screens for the sliding glass windows in my new condo. I realize that they may need to be custom-made because I have been unable to idendify the manufacturer of my windows. I would really appreciate any advice you have. Thanks.

Go down Thepprasit Rd and you'll see several aluminium window making shops on both sides of the road all the way down.

They will need to go to your condo and measure up and then make them for you.

The going rate is 1500bt per door supplied and fitted, although some shops will try and overcharge you if they think your a naive farlang.

Shop on Soi Arunothai (Pattaya Klang Soi 1 across from Carrefour) on the S. side about 100 down the soi from Klang just past Vanaporn Apartments - has a fading "Iron Works" sign.

Screens for front security door and balcony cost 2200 baht - with 500 baht deposit. Measure one day and likely installed the next.

The alu & glass-shop just below Carrefour. Very good and fair prices. They also always happy to do any kind of custom work, that need an extra effort. They are great for shower-cabins, too. Ask for the owner, Kh. Suvit who speaks good E.

Best to go there shortly before 17.00, as he is on jobs personally during the day. JL.

for my search, its not that much alu work, more steel work,

the old company did the iron work in my room with nice decoration,

and now, I`m looking for a shop, who can continue this style of decoration with their steel work.

Shops have design books for windows and doors. You can pick one you like or modify an existing design. They will make it the way you want it.

DO NOT measure it yourself because then its your mistake and your cost.

Window openings may look identical but my experience is most, if not all, will differ by a fraction, enough so the fit isn't tight.
