More Info For Canadian Prv

I am assuming I should get our marriage license translated.

And he will need a medical certificate and Police check. Can we get those in English or do we have to get them translated in English? Do we have to get them in Bangkok?

I will be leaving for Canada soon and my husband will still be in Thailand but he lives in the South so while we are in BKK what should we get done?

And aside from proof of our relationship and my time in Thailand what else should we prepare while I am in Thailand?

and has anyone done this without a lawyer? Am I kidding myself that I can do this alone?

I have lots of experience with his tourist visas but I am finding it really difficult with finding out where to start with his PRV.

I'm like you. I've done a few tourist visas. They are a piece of cake. When I did the first one I thought oh my this will not be easy. The first one was turned down, the visa officer was not very nice! So we re-applied a few weeks later and got our first visa. The next 2 visas were approved the following day of applying.

So now we want to do the same thing, get a PRV.

I think they have a list of approved doctors.

I think everything should be in English.

Have a good chronological order of your relationship.

I don't think you need the medical or criminal check done until after you apply. They will then tell you to go and get this...I think.

You need to have one or both of these checks done on the whole family.

I was told don't use a lawyer. They must like to see you work for it. I'm not sure.

I would like to work with you on these PRV's. Lets keep in touch on this thread. I hope more people can lend a hand as well!

The first tourist visa was quite the process for us as he didnt have any assests, or a high paying job etc. so we prepared lots and lots of things to help him with the application and it worked! But it is always so nerve racking so I fear this one as well.

Yes I believe the checks are for the whole family. Going or not going.

The list of doctors was included in the visa package I ordered from the Canadian Govenment. I can't remember if I phoned or did the order online. I was on the Canadian Govt. website when I found out you needed this package.

I havn't looked at mine in a few months. I will look at it and get back to you.

I just checked the website. Yes, all the family members going or not require the medical and criminal checks.

All the info is on the website. And you can print it all.

I won't be applying for a few months. But I want to get all the info I can, gathered up now.

My girlfriend got her TRV yesterday. She will be in Canada friday.

While she was in the embassy they told her the next time she applies for a TRV she will be refused. The reason was because she is coming to Canada 1/year and the stays have increased each time. 3months then 5 now 6. The embassy told her they want to protect her ( she has no insurance when in Canada) so she needs to apply for a PRV next time.

They told her if she applies for and is refused a PRV, then they might give her another temp visa.

I think it sounds promising for the PRV.

You are not buying a gold package from bupa for her??? very cheap and a must if you dont want to lose your shirt in the unlkely event she has a problem. I am wondering how a prv will insure her?

Google bupa pattaya, they have an office on Suk. Rd. dont leave Thailand without a policy for your other half, doesnt cover a lot of dangerous things, like riding a Harley or racing anything, read the policy, covers your hospital bills pretty well, a friend has had a few claims, they are legit.
