george
Dog kills baby, mauls granny BANGKOK: -- A pitbull terrier bit a 13-month-old baby boy to death and severely malled the child's grandmother when she tried to rescue the infant, news reports said on Sunday. Pitak Thngkert, nicknamed "Leo", died of a severed jugular hours after the attack on Friday night in a cramped government housing flat in Bangkok, said The Nation newspaper. Daranee Masathian, the boy's grandmother, were bitten on the legs, hand and neck. A neighbour rescued the grandmother by beating the dog unconscious, and even in this condition it refused to release her leg from its jaws. The dog's owner, the dead boy's uncle, said he had kept the beast in their flat because his own was being refurbished. Over the past two decades it has become fashionable in Thailand to own foreign dog breeds, many of which are poorly suited to the country's hot climate and lack of roaming space. -- Sapa-dpa 2005-02-
Diggerbasher
It's an all too familiar story i'm afraid.Dogs in Thailand receive litttle or no training and are poorly looked after and left to roam on their own.You never hear of an owner being punished. JimGant
Over the past two decades it has become fashionable in Thailand to own foreign dog breeds, many of which are poorly suited to the country's hot climate and lack of roaming space. Pitbulls are unsuited for ANY climate. They're bred for just one reason -- to be viscious. Everyday in the Washington Post you'll read of someone being attacked by a pitbull -- and invariably it's in the ghetto areas of Greater DC, where no doubt these retched dogs are kept solely for security reasons. Why anyone would want one as a pet is beyond me.
