Voip Hardware

Featured Replies

I've signed up to a VoIP provider in Australia, before my departure to Thailand.

Should I buy an ATA/IP phone in Australia and bring it with me or should I buy it in Thailand?

Is there a good choice of VoIP gear in Thailand?

Are there compatibility issues with equipment from Australia on the Thai phone system?

If you are thinking of taking the voip modem from Australia there is a good chance it is locked to the company that gave it to you. So it would be useless in Thailand. what are you trying to achieve with voip, ie do you have people in Oz that you want to call you or are you wanting to setup VOIP in Thailand to call people in Oz etc?

I want to call people in Australia, and people in Australia will be calling me. My provider will be located in Australia.... something like Pennytel or Mynetfone... just wondering if the hardware side of things is going to work in Thailand.

I don't think there's much choice of VOIP hardware in Thailand. I think you'll be better off bringing your hardware with you, particularly in your circumstances where you're only planning to use your Australian VOIP company anyway.

I have to call Germany pretty often, and I'd like to sign up for a VoIP subscription, so what would you recommend ? VoIP providers.

I've heard about Asterisk, is it any good ? Cheap international calls.

Thanks in advance !
