Non B - Work Permit - Labour Laws

Featured Replies

I hope this is the correct forum, and if any one has time to provide a little advise it would be gratefully appreciated.

I have just been sacked after 6 weeks in a sales role with a language school. No names mentioned - ok.

The company assisted and paid for my Non -B visa, and now I am no longer employed by them, suggest I must immediately leave Thailand and/or do a visa run and re-enter on a Tourist Visa. I thought as my visa is still okay for 90 days, this should allow me time to stay and find another role or business opportunity.

The company was in the process of obtaining my work permit, and the company 'provided' me with a TEFL certificate in order to make the process easier.

Termination was immediate, mobile confiscated and email account shut down. 'lack of cash' the reason given for dismissal....and although I admit, my short term sales were low, long range sales for course in coming months are looking very good. According to my contract, I am entitled to two weeks pay in lieu of notice. The company shows no intentions to pay this entitlement.

The company continues to employ staff with improper visa/work permits.

I'm not known a complainer, generally keep moving forward...but this has got under my collar.

Any constructive advise is kindly appreciated.

You do not need to leave and can continue to use the 90 day visa stay. As for termination have no experience or knowledge but if only employed six weeks not sure that there would be much compensation involved or worth the trouble. The contract did not have a probationary period?
