Not Accepting 400k For An Extension

Featured Replies

I was just reading another living in Thailand forum and a guy posted that his 400k baht in the bank for a Non-O extension was rejected by Chiang Mai immigration because they said that being fairly young he should be working so only a 40k salary would be acceptable. Another guy popped up and said that Nan immi told him the same.

It sounds like a load of what makes the roses grow to me but I wonder if anybody had heard similar? If it's true then I'm up the Swannee river because I don't work, am 42 years old so too young for a retirement visa, had previously extended using my wife's salary and seeing as they threw that clause out of the window hoped I'd be extending my Non-B with 400k in the bank come October.

When I did my 90 day reporting at Nong Khai a month ago the guy gave me a list of extension requirements and they just mentioned 400k or 40k a month.

So. A load of rubbish or have immigration finally lost the plot completely?

A 1 year extension based on marriage requires 400k in the bank for 2 months or 40k per month income, yours alone and not the wife's. Those are the rules, but as we all know they are subject to interpretation by your local friendly immigration office.
