Best Country To Obtain Single Entry Tourist Visa This Week?

Featured Replies

I need to get a single entry in the next few days.

Just wondering at this present time which country is easiest for a first timer.

Cambodia(phnom penh), Laos(Vientiane), Malaysia(KL)?

Thanks for any help :)

For a single entry any of them would be ok. If you have had tourist visas from Penang before it is not good.

Best is KL or Vientiane. Lowest cost is probably Vientiane.

PP in Cambodia has been reported to take 2 days to get visa and has gotten unfriendly.

Edit: If it is your first visa then Penang is probably easiest if you fly in because you can use an agent there and don't even have to go to the consulate.

Also Malaysia does not require a Visa to enter for most people.

If you want to go South to get your Visa, it is closer and therefore cheaper to got to Kota Bharu. As this is in Kelantan, please wear a proper outfit. Pick up of the Visa is next morning, time enough to get back on the train or bus to Hat Yai. They are open on Sunday, but closed on Friday/Saturday. More directions if necessary upon your request.

Actually I do not believe it is any closer than Penang and it is subject to frequent transport interuptions do to bombs and such. :)

Penang was not recommended, and Kota Bharu is a lot closer to KL, period. From Hat Yai there are daily busses and trains to Sungai Kolok. The last interruption of the train traffic to the South happened on December 5, 2008 due to heavy rains. The trains heading South are highly guarded by security. Regarding the bombs you mentioned: It is by far more probable that you get killed by crossing any of those four lane roads in Thailand.

Thanks for the fast reply's everyone :)

Looks like Penang will be the place for me as I'd rather fly than train it.

Banana Guesthouse seems to be my best bet

I was in KL 1 month ago on a 90 day visit stamp, will this be any problem returning into Malaysia?

Thanks again

Just got told by Banana Guest House that theres alot of rejections in Penang at the moment.

Already booked my flight for tomorrow though. Might have to make my way to KL :)

If you have not gotten a visa from them before you should not have a problem. We have had reports of them being turned down because a person got a visa from them and got a 30 day extension and others because they had 3 or more visas from Penang.

Getting the 30 day extension of stay on a tourist visa seems to be the most cited reason for refusal posted here recently.

Make it to Kota Bharu, appear with an ironed shirt, long trousers and a smile on your face. You'll be all set. It's easy and not that far away. You will be far better off, than in a big city like KL and you save some dough.
