Driver Didn't Flee The Scene.....

Very Sad but unfortunately these things happen. Sad also for the driver, who tried to do his best in saving the boy only to be set upon by the mob.

Condolences to all concerned.

Maybe we should have a condolences forum ?

Doesn't say very much for the crowd that they were more interested in vengeance rather than allowing the driver to try and help the child.

A 3 year old playing on a road, where were these "loving " parents?

Oh so true. I don't want to appear racist, but it happens in some areas far more than others. After spending a considerable amount of time in a rural Thai village, and observing the children playing, I often wonder how so many survive to become adults. I guess it's like the street dogs who survive amongs heavy traffic.

It's always heart rendering when a child dies needlessly due to lack of proper attention. RIP little guy.

Sad case, and emotions will certainly run high at the time.

My younger brother was hit by a car and I wanted the drivers head, the fact that it was my brothers fault was lost on me at the time, it was a spur of the moment reaction, luckily in my case all ended up well, yet I would have been wrong to attack the driver, and the poor guy would have wondered what the fawk was happening.

I will say something extra, when you are driving in Thailand take care when going through village areas, reduce your speed before you even get there, cos if you have an unfortuante accident with a local as a fatality, and you were driving too fast or drunk or whatever, you could be in for a world of trouble, in some cases. you had better hope the Police get there quick, they may actually be able to save you from being badly beaten, or even killed.

Take care chaps.

Not knowing the area, it could have been a quiet street with not much traffic about but, not an awful lot of parental supervision here if a 3 year old was playing in the road on his scooter. You cannot expect a 3 year old to have any realisation of the dangers.

RIP little one, maybe Buddha called you back early for a reason.

The article states it was a quiet, rural street.

Our boy is a little younger than the one featured and he is never alone near a street, however whenever going to the park, he walks along similar quiet streets and can make a mad dash if something catches his eye, or just for the hel-l of it.

Sometimes it is the 'Devils Own' in catching him, but we do.

He may have been under the supervision of someone other than his parents, so at this point in the thread we do not know the failings of the parent.

Apart from that, I agree with endure, a sorry state of affairs when adults are thinking of revenge on someone who is trying to save a life, whatever the circumstances.

Worth clarifying before people start criticizing Thai people that this was in the UK.

Of course, Why do you think most Thai drivers flee the scene? Not because they are afraid to stand up to the consequences but because they don't want to be killed by the mob.

Most fleers (?) from an accident scene are found at a temple or at home.
