Are Trees Far Better At Predicting The Weather In Thailand?

Featured Replies

There is a tree outside of my Condo that shows a disturbing ability to predict the weather.

Well before it is going to rain the leaves droop (this is in the wet season they are not dehydrated)

When it is going to be fine they perk up.

It beats my two weather stations hands down. Has anyone else seen this?

Probably does as you suggest. At the base of each leaf is the pulvinus which directs the movement of the leaf. This is effected by light, humidity and hydration.

This tree could be very sensitive to changes in light and humidity before there is rain.

Anyone know the name of this type of tree? It also has a pink flower a bit like a cresanthium (I hope I spelt that correctly)
