Hotel Operators Warned Against Further Discounting

This explains a strange phenomenon I have been experiencing. I travel around Thailand for work and when I walk into a hotel to check a price, I often see their advertised price, lets say 1,900 baht a night, and I ask what I can get it for, and it's often half that!!

This is just good business practice. A hotel bedroom is not like most other commodoties - once the night has gone any potential revenue for that room night goes with it. Walk in prices are common within the industry (although half price is unusual) because if the hotelier is covering his variable costs then they are ahead of the game. :)
