I really wanted to tell you all how wonderfull and promissing the 3G service was but unfortunatelly i can not.

I purchased a TOT 3g sim with a new number from one of their sub carrier called I-Mobile, in the beginning everything was fine, got the promissed speed, was able to make very good and clear International calls etc.

Its about a week now the service gone downhill, I hardly ever get fixed signal and now i can not make International calls at all, at first i thought the problem is due to my cell phone settings but unfortunately i learned the terrible truth today when i made the call to their call center.

I was told that to give the best possible speed to their customers they have shut down the International Calling feature all together, and they have no idea when or if the service will resume or not.

Now my options are

#1 sacrifice from the 3g speed and get a dtac sim and able to make international calls.

#2 dont make international calls to be able to get 3g speed "where available"

Well i do not know how to continue my post without saying something wrong about the system or the mentality but i do know that some fanatics will reply to this post simply saying "then why dont you go to your country"

Well for those, Trust me if i could i would....

I think the solution is rather easy, i.e. get a second cheapy phone (1000 Baht), stick an AIS or Dtac simcard in and do the international calls on that one!

Anyway, voice calls with TOT3G simcards will be messed up anyway due to the rather big disagreement they have with AIS!

It's quite bad when you see representatives of the various companies selling 3G services on the TOT network hawking their wares like any other street vendor. The only difference between them and the normal street vendors was that they were very loud and pushy, stepping in front of people and shoved a paper in their faces proudly proclaiming "HIGH SPEED! 7 MEGABIT!" (Maybe they were hired out of Panthip plaza and just changed the slogan from "Sexy Movie")

Thais and foreigners alike looked quite annoyed at their "tactics". If they are there again tomorrow, I'll try to video their antics.

If this is the best they can do in terms of "sales and marketing" how can anyone expect a reliable service with any sort of standards?

Hi.

I have one of them TOT SIM cards (from i-Mobile as well) and today in the morning found out that there is no signal inside Paragon! I was there to watch a movie and to kill the time before the movie i wanted to surf the 'net a little on my phone... narda, no signal.

Oh, and sending MMS, which was promised "will work in beginning of January" does still NOT work.

Maybe they'll get it sorted until end or April when my SIM expires... if not i won't refill it (it's a pre-paid). Stick to Hutch which is still the best in the country.

Best regards......
