What Docs I Need For Non-immigrarion Visa Ext. For My Mother

Featured Replies

Hi,

This is my first post in this forum and I apologise if I made any mistake in chosing the right corner.

I am on work permit and living in Thailand for several years on a modest monthly (80K). I am not married to a Thai, and my employer regularly renews my visa and work-permit for myself. BTW, I am a Bangladeshi.

My father passed away recently and my mother (73) came with me on a nonimmigrant visa. She was given a 3 month stamp at the airport valid until 25 March. I was exploring the immigration web site but could not dig out enough info about the renewal procedure and the documents I need to prepare! I assumed she will be considered as my dependent and I should bring an employer letter showing my salary and status. Does anyone have a similar experience or can anyone provide me any detail info in this regard.

Thank you very much and best regards,

MH

I believe you are here on one year extensions of stay rather than visa so below which is from section 2.20 of Police Order 777/2551 should be what has to be met - she needs a non immigrant visa entry and that can be obtained with copy of your passport with extension of stay in it if unable to make a conversion inside Thailand.

(1) The alien has obtained a temporary visa (NON-IM);

(2) Proof of family relationship;

(3) In the case of a spouse, the marital relationship shall be de

jure (legitimate) and de facto; or

(4) In the case of a child, adopted child or child of his/her spouse, the said person must not be married, must be living with the family, and must be less than 20 years of age; or

(5) In the case of a parent, the said person shall be 50 years of age or over.

Thank you for your kind reply. The information is useful.

Yes, I renew my visa & work permit every year (late September). My own passport include's my mother name and my mother is 73 so I think the "proof of relationship matter" is quite straight forward.

I think I will have to bring some passport size photo of my mother. And a renewal form to fill in! In person ...

Well, I am trying to make sure that I just need to visit the immigration once (my mother is suffering from arthritis).

Many thanks for your kind advice

The "proof of relationship" did not work in that way (although obvious). The Nakhom Pathom Immigration demanded a "Letter from the Embassy" as proof of relationship. It was easy to get but I had to travel to the embassy twice (to apply and to collect)

Just sharing the experience
