george Posted November 4, 2003 Share Posted November 4, 2003 Call to halt prostitutes at airport Published on Nov 4, 2003 A House committee yesterday proposed that immigration police screen Thai women leaving |the country to prevent them |from working as prostitutes abroad following a report that |82 Thai women were convicted |for prostitution and jailed in Bahrain. Premsak Piayura, chairman of the House committee on labour, said many women had passed themselves off as tourists to work in the flesh trade in Middle Eastern countries, especially Bahrain. He cited data from November and December last year that showed a high number of Thai women were travelling to Bahrain as "tourists''. "The figures showed that about 30 to 40 Thai women went to Bahrain on each Bangkok-Bahrain flight. There are 10 flights from Bangkok to Bahrain per week |so the number is very high," he |said. "The Bahrain government is unhappy about this because it is an Islamic country where prostitution is illegal," he added. Premsak said prostitutes arrested in Bahrain were punished severely. He said immigration police at Bangkok International Airport should question women leaving for Bahrain about the purpose of their trip and whether they had relatives or friends in the country. KevinN Posted November 4, 2003 Share Posted November 4, 2003 Kwiz,I do not know about eating oil and gold, But when I worked there the only leg for sale was British air stewardes's and they was charging $100 a short time,I was told that there was some local talent pulling trains and not even taking time to wipe off between tricks,that was told to me by the fillipino workers that we had on the dredge I was on at the time. And $100 was a bit of money in 1974 when you could get layed in any cat house in Nevada for $15. But I can't blame the girls from here if there is big bucks to be made,I do not know what the going rate is in BKK,but I bet that it is a lot more over there and if it is the way it was when I was there,then there is plenty of farang with money to spend,and they are spending it right now in the MIDDLE EAST HOTEL BAR in downtown Manama Bahrain.
