Travel is certainly something every woman should do alone at least once in her life. It teaches you that you are resourceful, independent and how to handle situations.

Perhaps I should add buying a car to the list? The first car I bought I made the mistake of bringing along a male friend who proceeded to make it clear that he was a car expert, being male. The car, while not a complete disaster, was certainly problematic and I believe if I had bought it alone I would have been less reliant on my friend and probably more reliant on qualified experts.
