Work Permit Required For 1 Day Charity Event ?

Recommended Posts

The (UK based) son of a friend of mine living here wishes to visit Phuket.

In memory of his deceased mother, he wants to make a one day run up to

the Big Buddha to raise money for the charitable organization, Cancer Research

UK, and possibly some local hospitals / schools.

Does anybody definitively know whether this run would constitute 'work' thereby

requiring him to obtain a work permit before the event ?

Would conducting a public charity fund raising event require any other licenses /

permits from the police or other local authorities ?

Thanks in advance. :)

hi,

Technically it is work, but the chances of any questions being asked at a charity event is practically nil, so I wouldn't worry about it. I know loads of folks who work at the Red Cross fair every year without any permits.

Cheers

and the Ploenchit fair every year !
