Microwave
Interesting that the latest U.S. Embassy Alert includes a paragraph warning citizens to be careful around the Nimmanhemin area. Here's the link to the alert posted on Thaivisa.com's Bangkok Embassies Warnings & Advisories thread. Scroll to the bottom of the thread and you'll see this latest alert: http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/Bangkok-Emba...or-t344213.html This new alert has been extended 3 months from the previous alert and extends to ALL of Thailand and not just Bangkok. heybruce
I live on Nimmanhamin. I saw a small, peaceful yellowshirt parade Tuesday afternoon, other than that nothing. I intend to stay clear of political demonstrations, especially if I see redshirts and yellowshirts converging, but I'm far from panicking.

If its a yellow shirt area they might be implying that it might be a target for the reds to hit

BigWheelMan
It`s all a hyped up load of crap from the Foreign Governments and travel companies to cover they’re own asses. Because if the worst does happen, they can say; it`s no good blaming us, we told you so. Of course we should all be cautious and use some common sense during these times, but I wouldn’t let these warnings put anyone off visiting these areas. Loaded
It`s all a hyped up load of crap from the Foreign Governments and travel companies to cover they’re own asses.Because if the worst does happen, they can say; it`s no good blaming us, we told you so. Of course we should all be cautious and use some common sense during these times, but I wouldn’t let these warnings put anyone off visiting these areas. People outside of Thailand reading these advisories and watching the news must think there's a war taking place in Thailand. Yet, of the thousands of expats who live here and regularly post on forums, I've not seen one post concerned about personal safety. The people who know aren't worried, but the people who don't know have invented a lovely scare story to justify their own existence. Pattaya balconies and Thai roads kill many foreigners each year but the FO doesn't include them in their advisory but they do include protests that are easy to avoid and which are located in relatively tiny tiny pockets within Thailand. Ulysses G.
You are right. A lot more foreigners have died from being pushed off Pattaya balconies this year than from the demonstrations.
orang37
You are right. A lot more foreigners have died from being pushed off Pattaya balconies this year than from the demonstrations. Sawasdee Khrup, Khun UG, We were able to prove years ago that the high-frequency of deaths of farangs from falling from Pattaya balconies was not homicide or suicide. The balconies are "trick balconies" manufactured by a division of Blackwater, USA, involved in the manufacture of special devices for politcal assassinations and murders-impervious-to-rational explanation : they are so unique they are classified. How they came into the hands of Pattaya condo-builders who have cleverly put clauses into their contracts which transfer ownership back to them in case of accidental death of the registered owners is unknown, but may be related to the so-called "Cobra Gold" annual training exercises designed to give the U.S. Navy and willing Thais combat-level humping experience. They are designed to sense the presence, alone, of an older farang male, evaluate his mood, and, as programmed, suddenly "buck," tossing the farang over the rail just like a rodeo bull-rider gets thrown off the bull. That's just one reason we've never been to Pattaya. best, ~o:37; Edited May 1, 2010 by orang37

Ewe Gee, I thought the majority of foreigners that died in Pattaya suffered from a fatal overdose of Viagra.
