KMUTT
Weng : It's parents' decision to bring children to rallyRed shirt leader weng Tojirakarn condemned on Tuesday the Centre for Resolution of Emergency Situation (CRES) for presenting a video clip of a child at the clashing point in its press conference. "Whether to bring their children with then is up to the parents to consider by themselves. It's not the resolution of the protesters to bring the children, It's the consideration of the parents to entertain and thrill the children. But we don't agree with that," he said. The patients are running the asylum . Consider this. You are running a demonstration camp. You know there is a likelyhood of violence. You know there is a possibility of people being harmed or killed. You see children arriving with their mother and/or grandmother. You reason "I don't agree but this is not my problem". If they get harmed it is the mothers/grandmothers fault. Let them stay. This is the mentality of these bafoons. A day without a Weng-ism is like a day without sunshine. saintofsilence
The CRES called on members of the mass media and the people in general to send pictures and video clips of the violence to police, so that wrongdoers could be arrested. The centre stressed that police and soldiers would not use their weapons against unarmed civilians, but would use them to counter armed attacks by terrorists. The centre described United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship co-leader Natthawut Saikua as one of the major terrorist figures. Does anyone have contact details for cres to send images ? My point was that the International media seems to focus on body counts more that the stories behind them, AND the army/govt strategists are aware of that. Sarcasm (for adult thinkers) was employed in making the argument. But, really the argument is not that controversial is it? Need an airsickness bag? You seem to get nauseated easily. Abrak
An underlying problem here is that you have a professionally trained and well armed army on one side. The protesters probably fall into 3 seperate categories 1) Peaceful demonstrators who are protesting in an illegal demonstration 2) Ill-armed untrained yobs causing mayhem and havoc 3) Probably a few well trained 'terrorists' who not only want to destabilize the situation but are perhaps trying to instigate violence against the 'innocent' to make the regime look brutal and create martyrs. The army needs to handle each Group differently and with extreme caution.

Amnesty International on Tuesday accused Thailand's army of "reckless Red Shirts of using lethal force against a defenceless public who are not involved nor interested in their violent protest The London-based rights group said Red Shirt terrorists were violating the law by firing live ammunition and instigating arson attacks and looting in several areas around Bangkok Amnesty's London-based Thailand specialist Benjamin Zawacki. tharae
Assuming you're assertions are correct (many would disagree) then an Amnesty isn't going to solve anything. It will just become more protracted, and that isn't going to help anyone. No it wont. the plan includes early elections that are considered fair by all parties. THAT is where amnesty will lead. I understand that it is very hard to swallow amnesty to people you feel have hurt you or others. in fact, there is no other way forward except horror. I appreciate your optimism. The Amnesty in Sri Lanka worked really well there
bkkjames
On behalf of the two eyed people here in Thailand, I extend an open invitation to Amnesty Int to send a delegate to observe and report from an army frontline position on rama 4, petchburi or rajaprsop. You can then write a first-hand press release about unarmed protesters without having to rely on that person known as 'source'. PS. Please bring your own vest.
