Help! I Can't Play Youtube Videos Any More

Featured Replies

Both Firefox and Chrome lock up when I click on a YouTube video to play it. Chrome, at least, gives me this pop-up error message:

What is the cure for this?

The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place

Try to download the shockwave player again.

It's here:

http://www.adobe.com/products/shockwaveplayer/

Hope that helps. :)

Edit: Forgot to thank you for putting up all those good vids on youtube! Great work, keep it up!

Problem solved. I did what I should have done in the first place. I did a full shutdown, went to have a cup of tea, came back 20 minutes later, started the computer again, and I can view YouTube videos again. But I was really scared there for a moment.

Youtube withdrawal, now that's just sad. :)

Actually I had a similar problem recently with a message to upgrade Flash. Flash movies (youtube, etc.) just stopped working. Uninstalling & re-installing, no help. Used Adobe's "special" flash player removal tool, still no youtube. Saw the version would never change from 7.x to 9.x which was the update. Appears there removal is not very effective as it keeps the old dll and puts the new dll in a different place but continues using the old one. Found the old one and deleted it and voila, the new version started working and had flash capability again. In case others run into it, here are links to the solutions.
