rubl
You mean to say that Mazeltov's been hijacking this thread from outside Thailand? Now why would anyone spend so much time and effort diverting the thread away from its stated title of "Thai court approves arrest warrent against Thaksin on terrorist charges?" Ohh, yes there is strong harassment of your rights of information and the freedom of the media in Thailand. I think you are the one who is "harassing" our ability to continue to participate in this board's discussions by posting links and adding content that could jeopardize this forum's continued existence. Most likely, willfully on your part to post un-allowable content. Disingenuous posters would pretend not to know that website's owner was jailed for allowing barred content to remain on their discussion forum, which has to do with why the website's contents are now barred. Mazeltov is on my personal IGNORE list. He seems to ask interested questions, but intent on annoying only.
rabo
Ballpoint's point that you completely ignored concerned your current location and your hijacking of the thread. If these are points you are unable to or unwilling to respond to, better to not quote him i would suggest. Ballpoint wasn't talking to me anyway and i wasn't talking with you. so what is the problem? in case you don't know, the harassment in my right of information doesn't mean that the internet not offers certain workarounds. why don't focus on the provided content instead of starting pointless guesswork about my current location or kind of internet connection? does that change anything of what was written? don't like the message, shoot the messenger tactic. low style arguments. A completely irrelevant point, as you would thus know the link was not accessible by us, but you didn't. Thought you told me the internet was useless anyway? csolgosz
I don't think this verdict is going to change much for him. Oh yes it does. Campaigning for someone convicted of corruption is one thing. Also supporting the same person on terrorist charges will give even the forum Thaksin red apologists a few difficulties. Friends and Thai countrymen, lend me your ears; I come to reproach Thaksin, not to praise him; The evil that men do lives after them, The good is oft interred with their bones, So let it be with Thaksin ... The noble Abby Hath told you Thaksin is a terrorist: If it were so, it was a grievous fault, And grievously will Thaksin answer it ... Here, under leave of Abby and the rest, (For Abby is an honourable man; So are they all; all honourable men) Come I to speak in Thaksin's accusation... He was the friend of the Phrai, faithful and just to them: But Abby says he is a terrorist; And Abby is an honourable man…. He hath brought many drug dealers home to roost, Whose blood money did the general coffers fill: Did this in Thaksin seem so ruthless? When that the poor have cried, Thaksin hath wept: Ambition should be made of sterner stuff: Yet Abby says he is a terrorist; And Abby is an honourable man. You all did see that never did he once Publically despise the kingly crown, Although he’s oft accused: was this ambition? Yet Abby says he is a terrorist; And, sure, he is an honourable man. I speak not to disprove what Abby spoke, But here I am to speak what I do know. Many did love him once, not without cause: What cause withholds you then to mourn for him? O judgement! thou art fled to brutish beasts, And men have lost their reason…. Bear with me; My heart is in the prison there with Thaksin, And I must pause till it come back to me. rubl
It's interesting that of all the witness accounts from within the Wat, no one has actually seen soldiers shooting at them. All of the "witness" reports that I have seen say "the shots came from a high point" and talk about there being soldiers on the BTS without saying that they saw soldiers shooting. But to be able to shoot from the BTS down into the Wat, and particularly, from some reports, down to the entrance of the Wat, the soldiers would have to be seen clearly over the top of the BTS wall. And then you get to the main question: What would the army have to gain by shooting people in the wat? Whereas, it's clear what the red shirts would gain by shooting people in the wat? All in the temple could hear shots fired. Some immediately associate it with the army, some wonder and think it may be the, none went out to look as far as is known. Some were shot, but don't know by who. The situation is clear for most people: it's must have been those they don't like anyway.

lannarebirth
Thaksin just gave a phone interview to Australian ABC Lateline program. See it here. Not many surprises, I am peaceful, dam_n the iron fisted government, poor civilians slaughtered by jackbooted government thugs blah blah. Most cheeky, he acknowledges that the burning of Central World was planned in advance, but of course, not by the red shirts. Government set up you know. I think that interview may come back to haunt Thaksin. He concedes the fires at CW were pre-meditated and then goes on to say they were set by the goverment. There have been anecdotal accounts of red shirts placing accelerants and throwing grenades in to set off the fire. I also believe due to its proximity to the red shirt stage that it would be very unlikely the government could get in their pre breakup of rally. I'm not sure but I think I read the fire either occured simultaneously with the dispersal or maybe evn started before. Anyone confirm?

Indeed, not any EU country will extradite somebody wen that person is risking a death penalty, Its against EU law. But if the Thai court guarantee that there is no risk for a death sentence there is a great possibilty that they will extradite him. Or he must ask political asylum. The Criminal Court has postponed the hearing for former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra's arrest warrant revocation case to July 5th, to comply with a request made by the Department of Special Investigation or the DSI for more time to gather additional evidence. The hearing has been scheduled for July 5th at 1:30 PM. The court has explicitly ordered both sides to refrain from publicizing the details of the case, explaining that the case is still under deliberation and could be influenced by public opinion. Also, as the court is still considering revoking the arrest warrant against the ousted premier, the DSI is now required to inform Thaksin's attorney before executing the warrant. http://www.thailandoutlook.tv/tan/ViewData.aspx?DataID=1031417
