Sorry for being vague, Lets say the Entry clearance officer has the application to hand and its 10am, He decides yes I'll grant this visa, so does he physically take the passport to a machine which prints and installs the visa in 30seconds. Puts in in an envelope gives it to a janitor who groups all the applications that were granted that day, then takes it by motorbike to the VFS office at regency house, who then look at all the recieved passports the following day and then send out the confirmation to collect. ALL done in 24hrs...?

The point I'm trying to establish is if the above process is as quick as I outline above, or does it take Days to produce install and take the passport to the VFS ready for collection...?

Anybody have any Knowledge..?

because my step son (aged 15) recieved a call last Wednesday with multiple questions regarding a settlement application to follow his already settled mother (ILR) and we have heard nothing and I'm wondering why it has seemed to have stalled on its progress.

1 week now gone and no follow up call as promised by the Embassy and no confirmation of collection to date by VFS..?

Now into it's 10th Week and most applications submitted at the end of March are taking 8 weeks aprox..?

From my, and other's, experience, the passport and decision should be back at the VAC ready for collection by the next working day following the decision.

The VAC should inform the applicant when his passport etc. are ready for collection, but if you want to check use the application tracker. It wont tell you much; just that it is either still at the embassy or has been returned to the VAC.

All applications are assessed individually; so processing times can, and do, vary.
