Wolfie
I've got a HDD in my base unit at home that is failing, i need to replace it. As a Gamer, i'm looking for a kick-ass fast drive, so im considering a SSD. Whats the Biggest size these days and the general price? I could go with some thing like a 250gb SSD and a 500gb HDD for general storage. Whats the performance like on the SSD's these days? Any advice, suggestions or links? lomatopo
SSD prices Still expensive (in the U.S., not sure about availability here). That 80 GB WD unit for $170 looks interesting. For a recent build I used a WD 'Raptor (10,000 RPM) 150 GB HD as the boot drive and some Samsung 1 GB (7,200 RPM) Spinpoints for data. Working very well. (I bought everything in the U.S.; ~ 25% less expensive. The 150 GB Raptor drive is ~ 4,750 THB in the shops here.
Wolfie
Looking at the prices i think SSD's are still a little out of my desired budget... i cant justify almost 20k for a 160gb drive Those Raptors looks good, nice and quick and reasonably priced, i will swing by Pantip later and see if i can find one. Eberhard I was in Fortune Town IT Mall this week and saw the Western Digital Velociraptor 150 GB 10,000 RPM drive is several shops for ~ 4,750 THB. Maybe Banana IT and Hardware House but it shouldn't take long to find it, every shop has price lists hanging in front of the shop for easy review. negreanu
Why not just get a 80GB drive and use that for the boot drive and games. Keep photos, Movies, Music etc. on a normal drive.
