Hi All,

some background first ...

I was introduced to partner in Thailand by mutual friend, I returned to Thailand 2 more times to visit her, she visit Australia 2 times on 3mth Tourist visa, and finally on a 9mth Prospective Marriage visa. Now married, wife has been in Australia 6mths and we are in the process of applying for the Partner visa.

After the 3 previous successful visa applications, we feel pretty confident in what we are doing. My understanding that this application is more to do we the legitemacy of our marriage/ relationship, and I believe we have all the supporting documents for this purpose.

BUT, do we have to supply again all the previous supporting documents? Like gift receipts, phone, email, live messenger records, money transfers and entry tickets for all the 'tourist' type stuff we done going back over 2 years before we were married?

No problem with resubmitting them, just feel that the 30-40 pages of documents that is outdated and not directly relevant to our ongoing relationship / married life will only confuse and detract from the more recent & relevant documents.

Any advice/ experiences welcome

Hello,

I have just been through the exact same process as you. 2 tourist visa and a fiancee visa, applied for spouse visa 6 months into the fiancee visa. Unfortunately you do have to resubmit everything again from the Fiancee visa as well as proof that you have married and you are both living as a couple with evidence such as joint bank accounts, letters addressed to your wife at your home address, etc... Oh and dont forget to submit an Australian Police Check. The medical and police check you had done in Thailand for the fiancee visa will still be valid.

The good thing though is its basically a formality for the spouse visa if you have already obtained the fiancee visa and have married.

When I submitted the Spouse visa the lady that took the documents wanted to hand all of the photos back to me because my file was too large. I argued that it was important to show that we were genuine and the photos held weight in proving that.

She told me not to worry as my wife had already obtained the Fiancee visa the case officer would only be looking for evidence that we are married which the marriage certificate would prove and that we are sharing household duties and we are living under the same roof.

1.5 months later, visa was granted without any phone calls, interviews or requests for further documents. My wife only received notice last week that the visa was granted. Now looking forward to using the 510hrs of free english lessons and get her a decent job.

Thank you for the reply acron45, much appreciated. We have everything you mentioned, so hopefully no problems.

Congratulations on your visa success.
