Bali doesn't show on the 'Latest Reports' page and the few queries I've been able to find on the forum seem a bit old...so does anyone have any recent experience trying to get a visa in Bali?

The latest email info I could find was this from Sept 09:

Warawin Waipokee

Royal Thai Consulate

Consular Officer

Denpasar - Bali

Indonesia

Office: +62361263310

Fax: +62361238044

Cellular: +6281558189452

E-mail:[email protected]

And there was a more recent phone number (posted yesterday I think) but with what looks like a broken link (lopburi3?) and no email.

Anyone know which info is valid?

I want a Tourist Visa, preferably 2 entries, but I can live with one. This is by way of taking a vacation, so it would be great if I could get the visa while I'm lazing about on the beach. I'm American, am currently on a TV from Vientiane and before that a non-O from back home. The trip would be 3 months from now...if you have any information, please post!

For the record, I received an email from K. Warawin Waipokee, so that information would appear to be current as well.

Still interested if anyone has first-hand experience with this consulate. Thanks!

I picked up a 60 day tourist visa from Denpasar. It was pretty easy. Just have the 3 items mentioned above (nothing more, nothing less). You might be able to get a double entry tourist visa, but I didn't ask. The sign said they were available after April 2010. You can probably email them and ask if you are interested. For other types of visas, you can email them.

The directions to get there isn't too difficult.

Type in 'Denpasar' into Google Maps. Then type in 'Thai Consulate'. Zoom in and you will see the streets mentioned below. Note:The marker that someone put on Google maps may not be accurate, but it is close enough.

The easiest way from Kuta is to follow the signs to Sanur (Jalan Ngurah Rai ByPass). After traveling all the way to Sanur, just follow the sign to Denpasar. There will be several signs to Denpasar before getting to Sanur, so avoid those. After traveling on Jalan Ngurah Rai By Pass, you will make a left run onto Jalan Hang Tuah, pass the large roundabout, and the road name changes to Jalan Puputan Niti Mandala Raya.

While traveling on Jalan Puputan Niti Mandala Raya take the first u-turn opportunity. Drive slowly for about 300 meters and you will see the Thai consulate on the north side of the street (left side if you are traveling east). Drive slowly because there is no sign on the street. The attached photo is what you will see if passing by. If you have trouble finding it, just ask someone in the area.

Jalan Puputan Niti Mandala Raya is a big street (two lanes each way). But there isn't too much traffic.

The consulate will look empty and closed. Just park and slide the brown gate open. The guy there is very friendly.

Taxis use the meter and the price is fair.

Sometimes you have to ask to start the meter.

from kuta to the thai consulate, it's around 65k idr by taxi

blue bird always uses the meter

u must submit a copy of your onward ticket, 3 photos, and the photo page of your passport

it takes 3 working days for processing, and only 1 free entry = no double entry

i turned in on wed. morning, and picked up on monday afternoon

Thanks, I will arrive DPS, take a room if need be and make the visa in the a.m. returning to Kuta and in a few days pick it up. Then go out to Banda and Maluku islands if I can get a plane from Surabaya.
