Completely Confused

My package was sent from Sweden about 3 weeks ago. I live in Chiang Mai. I have my tracking number abd have checked with the post office to see if it has arrived, they say no. I go to check with them again today and they say no but this time they tell me to go to customs at Chiang Mai airport

I go to customs at chiang mai airport, they tell me to go to cargo customs down the road, I do that and they ask me (thai airways cargo) for a airway number....? How the hel_l do I know that....? They say the shipper should know..... no way does he know

Not satisfied I go back to the first customs office and the man calls a number tells me something in Thai and then gives me another number and carries on. I call the other number, no reply.

If you have got through this really boring story without jumping out the window then all I want to know is how I find out if customs have my parcel.

Not once today, besides the post office have they asked for my tracking number. Who do I call, what do I do, anyone else been in this situation...?

Hi

I gotta agree, the shipper should know everything..... about when..where...what flight number...everything you should need and should have already received from the shipper.

If Customs has directed you to Thai Air Cargo you will need the flight info to identify where it is being stored. Can you contact the shipper by email/phone/etc for this information?

Frustrating, I know, but the shipper has the responsibility to notify you how it was sent. Good luck!

Usually, the airwaybill number doubles as the tracking number - they are one and the same.

The more info you give them, the more easily they can find your package.

Was the package sent via the Swedish POSTAL SERVICE? With their POSTAL SERVICE tracking number?

If so, then you probably do not have an "airway bill" or "airway bill number," which is normally used for a single airfreight shipment.

A post office shipment of a relatively small package would be more likely be stuffed into a bag in Sweden for airfreight to Bangkok then into the Thai POSTAL SYSTEM, for further tracking on to C. Mai.

I'd think you'd have to ask the C. Mai post office (or even back to the Swedish post office) to track the shipment to ensure that it did arrive in Bangkok. If so, then ask if it was shipped onward to C. Mai.

Check through this for info on the Thai Postal Customs process: http://www.customs.go.th/Customs-Eng/PostalParcels/PostalParcels.jsp

ah ok alot of that makes sense. Ive been told the airway number doesnt start with LX and all they say in Sweden is that it has left Sweden.

The sender is being a bit slow on this as is Thailand. To be honest no-one really seems to know where it is.

Ive tried giving information but to be honest no-one really seems to want it.

I spoke to the thai post office call centre this afternoon which out of all the people I have spoke to today could actually tell me the leaving date and where from (which I have verified) but nothing as to being in Thailand,

Im gonna wait untill next week and have emailed the Swedish p.office again today explaining to get off their arse a bit, what good it will do who knows.

Does anyone know the route my parcel (about the size of an encyclopedia might take from Stockholm (express mail). I know Im pulling at straws but perhaps its stopped off somewhere or something.

Cheers

Did you use this service for your "tracking number?" http://www.posten.se/tracktrace/TrackConsignments_do.jsp?lang=GB

thanks alot Mac, yeh I tried that but it only says when it has left after that no-one seems to know,

Quick update, Swedish post office emailed me again yesterday saying that they dont know the flight information numbers barcodes etc and the only way they can find out is when the sender puts in a formal complaint. .....<_<

Seems like my parcel has been sent to Father Christmas waiting for delivery on the eve of the 24th, only if Im a good boy mind you.

I'm sure this won't make you feel any better, but I've had several things sent from the USA that never arrived, including my voters ballot. I've also sent a letter from Thailand to the USA, by Thai EMS registered mail and it never was confirmed to arrive. Regular post takes about 10 working days at least to the USA. Good luck!
