Hello,

I am trying to avoid buying online from the U.S. and having the modules sent to a friend, then mailed to me.

Where can I buy RAM modules with the specs below at Pantip, or any other shop in Bangkok?

# Size: 4096MB (4GB) (2x 2GB Modules)

# 200-pin DIMMs

# Data Rate = 667MHz

# CAS: 5.0

# Low Noise 8-Layer PCB

# Exceeds Apple/Intel Specifications

# Fully compliant with JEDEC specifications

# Lifetime Advance Replacement Warranty

Many thanks,

-O

Who in the world memorizes ram specs?

Go to the nearest IStore and buy it

Anything at Panthip or anywhere else is a crap shoot whether it is original or not

liveinlos,

There are Macheads that know about specs, what is so unbelievable about that?

Everybody knows that the products at iStore are priced at a premium, especially RAM sets. What's wrong with asking for alternative recommendations for the same chips at lower prices?

Although I did buy Snow Leopard from iStore.

I bought Mac Pro memory from the USA, sent direct to Thailand and came in a few days by courier. Some duty, but overall much cheaper than buying from Apple.

I just upgraded my MacBook Pro to 8GB. That means I have 4GB original Apple RAM lying around.

Hmm... although... a MacBook 2.16 might be too old, I have 1067 MHz DDR3 RAM.

So in case that doesn't work: I got my 8GB from OWC computing for $250! No sales tax, no duties. OWC ships to Thailand, takes 10 days. They need you to fax a copy of your card and ID as security, but once you account is verified you can then order all you want. They offer USPS shipping which means you'll bypass customs. Customs always checks FedEx and UPS, but normal post, they rarely bother - probably way too much stuff coming in to be able to check it all.

My package had a bona fide customs declaration on it too.

Nikster,

Thanks for the info. OWC is where I was going to buy my RAM if I coud not get a recommendation in Bangkok. I used their Upgrade Matcher to find out that my 2.16 GHz MacBook "Core 2 Duo" can take 4MB.

I will look into ordering now after reading your comments.

Thank you,

Those 2GB modules are easily available in Pantip or Fortune here for not too much cash. For those by the time you pay shipping and vat and duty its cheaper to buy them here.

4GB modules is a different ball game tho. Although having said that Uficon Mac dealer in Pantip is pretty competitive and again you must really look at the maths for importing.

3 or 4th just next to the down escalator on the corner. Only 2 mac dealers in pantip and are more or less next to each other.

Uficon for 4GB modules as you will have a hard job finding them anywhere else. for your required 2gb modules any shop will have them probably cheaper than uficon. Just buy Kingston they will will be less than 1500thb each. For example from Jib computers.

4GB modules near impossible to find apart from uficon.

Get those anywhere. for less than 1500thb each - ZERO POINT in importanting that.

^^^ seconded!!

What you do is you go to the shop with your Mac. They will install for you, and restart, and you'll instantly know it works. Very convenient. Much better than mail order. I ordered because the only place I could find that sold 8GB in Thailand was the Apple store, and for some ridiculous amount of money, more than 2x what I paid.

Sorry to hijack this thread somewhat but what about the price of an 8GB kit (2 x 4GB)? I am looking to upgrade my Macbook Pro from 4GB to 8GB and would appreciate some help on where to go to get the best price.
