Acquiring Repeat 'Visa On Arrival' Stamps

Featured Replies

HI there,

I arrived at Suvarnabhumi airport receiving a 30 day Visa On Arrival stamp.

Would I be correct in that the only way of extending my time in Thailand is to fly out and return on another VOA stamp?

Is there a restriction on how many times I can do this? I've only entered Thailand this way once.

Thanks.

There are no restrictions on how many times this can be done.

It would probably be a better plan to visit a Thai Consulate and get a free Tourist Visa.

Would I need to obtain this in my home country, or a visit to Penang or another regional Thai consulate office?

Yes, you can get tourist visas in neighboring countries. Penang, Kuala Lumpur, and Vientienne are popular and reliable. Some neighboring countries embassies may be less friendly, such as Singapore, perhaps Cambodia, Vietnam.

Vientiane will give you double entry tourist visa.

This can be utilized as:

Entry stamp 60 days.

30 day extension at immigrations for 1.900 baht.

Border run for second entry.

Entry stamp 60 days.

30 day extension at immigrations for 1.900 baht.

A total of 180 days.

Do you know how many days the application will take?

Apply in morning and pick up next workday afternoon.

Apply in morning and pick up next workday afternoon.

And they will be free of charge until March 31st.

Make sure that your Visa is still valid when making your 2nd entry.

You may need to lose a couple of days of your 1st stay.
