Do they sell the Kindle book reader in Pattaya? Does anyone have one brought here? I would rather get one here then buy from Amazon and hope it gets delivered. If you brought one here how much was it? My friend brought his in teh states and loves it and said it has thousands of free, good, book downloads

My understanding is that you can only order a Kindle directly from Amazon. I ordered the new model 3 weeks ago, shipment should be in about 2 weeks. Already shipped me my power cord. They ship with DHL when shipping to Thailand, doesn't go through the mail system. No worries.

I was about to order it then I saw that they want to take out tax and custom fees when you buy it. it said they would tell me the amount after I order it, was this your expericence. How much was it, all in, since I am ready to order one to be delivered. I can send one to the states and my friend will bring it to me in a month if the that way is a hassle.

I ordered the new Kindle for $189, plus the European adapter and the leather case with light. I think the shipping was about $25 and the customs charges were $73. You can save about $100 if you ship it to your friend in the US.

than ks for that, i might do that since I have a lot of paperbacks I haven't read and can wait a month. This way I will be sure to get it. i am currently waiting on two packages that might not be showing up. Do I need the European adapter for Thailand? i am assuming that is a yes

It's safe to order from Amazon. It will not get lost on delivery. Also pre-pay the duties direct with amazon on checkout works out about US$20.00 cheaper than the lottery with customs here on arrival.

thanks for all your help, I just ordered online from amazon. they didnt have it in stock and will ship when they get it. I dont really need it now, and since they are delaying shipping I will have my friend bring it when he comes next month. I got the 3g for an extra 50 bucks = 189. dont know if I will need it but I like to get options since I wont have to upgrade later

My new Kindle just arrived about an hour ago (Monday afternoon). Already like it a lot. Shipped from the US on thursday, US time. Very slick looking, nice design, easy navigation, easy connections.

How much was the actual custom tax? I am thinking to get one also. It says I have to deposit for 50$ importing fee and will refund if it exceed the actual fee.
