Delicate Goods

Ive found what my UK daughter wanted for her wedding present, its a wooden carved elephant table lamp, now the very delicate shade wont seperate from the main piece, so would we have problems with this in hand luggage, knowing the way other baggage gets thrown around! the main reason im asking is because its electrical, well, wire switch and a bulb, !!

should be able to carry on board with you as hand luggage, but not sure about the bulb. no one handles your carry on, so only you to blame if it gets broken.
