True And Firewall

For a couple of days now I am not able to use my Zonealarm firewall anymore as no

domain name would be found.

I called the service number and after half an hour of testing stuff we arrived at the

conclusion that from now on I have to turn the firewall off.

He even said "We recommend our customers not to use firewalls".

I worked very well with the firewall for many months, so they must have changed

something?

Anybody having the same problem?

What version of ZoneAlarm are you using? I'm using the freeware version with True basic ADSL right now. No problems at all.

If you're using Windows have you adjusted any settings in Services or Startup recently?

Check in ZoneAlarm that you have the firewall set to High for Internet and to Medium in the Trusted Zone.

You could always just uninstall your current version and download and install the latest version, that way you'll set from the start again what ZoneAlarm allows.

Yeah, I am using the same adsl package and the same firewall.

I do not remember that I changed anything.

I thought they must have changed something in their system.

The thing is it wont find a domain name when you type for example "google.com" into

the adress bar.

If you type the corresponding domain-number, then it would load google's page,

no problem.

I think I will try to install a new version and see if it works. It might be a problem on

my side otherwise more ppl would have the same trouble.

Since I am without firewall I get alot "registry-repair" pop ups that mozilla won't block.

Strange this...

I have experienced the same problem with the free Zonealarm. Out of the blue it suddenly won't let me connect to anything. Currenctly only using the XP firewall and have not had a problem with True. Cheers!

I use AVG free edition.

Other people, no doubt will tell you that other virus scanners are better, each to their own.

You can try out some of the online scanners too.

Use google to search for some.

To get rid of your being0wned.exe you will most likely have to start up in safe mode...you also may have to delete your restore points ( windows XP)

the last and most dangerous thing to try is serching through the registry

for any and all instances of being0wned.exe and deleting them...if you get that far please make sure you backup your registry before messing with it and if it goes wrong...don't blame me :D

Good luck.... :o
