Engine Mod For New City

For 120 --> 160HP, the only feasible way would be for light turbo charging or supercharging. I think HKS have a kit for it or a garage could custominse something. You would be looking at 100K baht so, and a voided warranty.

Maybe 10-15HP could be gained with a better intake (avoid an open pod) , better header and exhaust, and some ecu tuning with a pighyback. Thaty could still be 30-40K baht right there. Not much you can do with an economy car I'm afraid! I hope someone has some better suggestions.

I always find it funny that people buy a car with a small engine and then want to do it up to make it faster. why not just by a used 2.0L civic, it wouldnt cost much more than a new City?

there are loads of these Civic's around for sale at the moment.

it's not like i want to be a douchebag kid civic with spoilers.. i just dont wanna die when i overtake someone and find out the engine can't handle overtaking a dead at the wheel thai driver

ok, that makes sense. My wifes car is like that, some Mitsabishi model. total crap and no power whatsoever. getting out of mine and in to hers really made me glad for mine. had to sell it a few months ago and will not buy a new one till next year so looks like im stuck driving hers when I need a car. I dont think there is anything to make this motor more powerfull.

surely the City is not that bad is it?

i love fast cars

let's just say i have not had a fast car for the last 2 years then i had a jeep which a trouble with o2 intake(which gave a bad accel) and now im stuck on a city with 120ps..

Made lots of sacrifice and once again i have to sacrifice fast cars. it's pretty hard after having been able to drive an audi a4 for a day 2 months ago... 250hp of dreams

I could almost cry knowing that a 1990 skyline is like 2million baht here

The easiest option for you to do to get an addational 20-30hp:

Custom air intake with filter,

Exhaust slight upsize,-design depends on gear type,

and ofcourse a Greddy Emanage piggyback.

with harness and dyno tuning you can get a 20-30hp target no problems.

if you want more you can always do low boosting turbo kit

but mind you the internals cant handle to much boost, not to menation if you go to high

on the power side, tranmission will fail quickly esspecially an auto.

It's fine. Seems like there's no CVT on this one and it does go faster than the one i rented with CVT (even on 7 speed mode manual)

The ex faranag owner might have changed some stuff, the front grill doesnt look ugly like all the other ones, its the only one ive seen like this.

Thank god for farangs that spend plenty of money on a car for 5 trips pattaya-bkk then sell the car almost brand new for cheaper than a 2004 model

250HP? Hrmm how about this..

Sell the City, buy a 2yo Yaris J MT for 350K, give 160K to TRD in Bangkok for a 2ZZ-GE and 6-speed engine/box swap and you've already made 180HP. Add a supercharger (~60-100K) and not only will you have 240HP, you can also say you've got the same engine as the Lotus Exige 240R :)

After that, spend 40K on good set of adjustable coilovers and another 20-30K on some lightweight 15-16" rims and sticky tires, another 15K-20K for some bigger front rotors & pads. While you're at it, rip out all the unnecessary interior bits to save weight (free) and all up you've spent ~600K for something that's fast, stops, handles and is still current shape and with warranty on the bits you didn't change or throw away, heh ;)

for that price i could go to canada, buy a 3 year old bmw M3, drive around the country and stay in hiltons for 6months and still come out ahead. not much of a deal

I'm sure that you could do the same in the UK. Unfortunately not here. A new 520d is now about 3.8Million Baht and the soon to come to Thailand 525d is 4.4 Million Baht. Silly money I know. The new 525d is some motor though judging by the new 523 Highline which has only been here a few weeks and I've been fortunate enough to try.

One of the disadvantages of living here is the cost of so called luxury cars. The 525d will probably be the last new car that I buy here though. It will just have to last me out!!!!!!!!!!! money gone...........

Onnut while on the subject of Honda Civic my 2006 new shape have a facilty for jack lead conection under the cigar lighter I looked at MP3 players yeasterday and they only seem to come with the connection lead to your computer to download music and headphones. Is there a special lead that one needs to buy to connect from the MP3 to the car

. Does the MP3 play through the radio like the cheap gadget with a memory stick that l have now. Many thanks

I don't know what the lead is called. But it has a male bit at both ends. Not male and female!! :-)

It costs 100 baht for the lead. Plug it into the head phone jack of the iPod and into the car. It does not charge the iPod but you can get good sound out of the cars speakers.
