Best to contact immigration, but now the elections have been held there is no reason why it should not be open.

In the past there have been many more incidents in Mae Sod, not affecting the border at Mae Sai.

Agree it's best to contact immigration.

There has been serious fighting in the last few days between the Kayin rebel army and government troops. Thousands have fled across to Mae Sot this last weekend to escape. Often when Thailand lets in people fleeing from Burma because of fighting, the junta get pissed off and close all borders out of spite.....it probably won't affect Mai Sai, but best to check first.
