wandrinstar
The Mitsu i had was a G.Waggon , never missed a beat, but swayed a fair bit in the mountains. But nothing like the Spivo. Limbo
But the 2wd model comes with the 4 gearbox. What do you guys think? This guy thinks that if you wait a week or so you might see the new 2wd version of this car available with a 5 gear box, auto and even manual. See my earlier postings on the subject for the other new details and price. I double-checked my info with a couple of dealers and they all expect to have at least the brochures next week ... Limbo Today we were called by one of the dealerships (six of the same owner in Chiang Rai Province) and told that the dark-blue color might only be available for the 2,4 liter gasoline version (???). I can't image that they are completely un-informed, but slowly I start to wonder. Ordering now means delivery in January is what the staff says now. Maybe selling the remaining lot of the present version needs some more time. I start to wonder if the brochures are printed yet. Let's hope their mechanics are better informed 555! Limbo Sorry for all my misinformation: The darkblue will be available for all versions! It looks good, especially in the eyes of those among us who like blue I suppose But only the 2,4 gasoline version (915.000 Baht) will have a manual transmission. Nice thing is that the paddle shift is going to be standard in the GT 2wd version as well. Further more the five gear automatic transmission and indeed the 17 inch wheels, the aircon outlets in the ceiling, also for the second and third row, the protection strip on the side, side turn lamps on the mirrors and some other minor frivolities. Well worth the thirty thousand Baht extra I suppose. Limbo If it can be delivered in the beginning or the end of January, who knows? But that is what these charming and enthousiastic Mitsu boys and girls don't know yet. Just pay two thousand and wait ...

Limbo
Well worth the thirty thousand Baht extra I suppose. Extra 30K? I love it! One more price increase and I'll be able to sell the Mrs' PJS for what I paid for it A couple of weeks ago I came to an agreement with the salesman of a Mitsubishi dealership here. Part of that agreement was that I would trade in my six year old Everest for 480 thousand. I was surprised, because I hoped for 450 (perfect condition and only 125.000 on the clock). His superior still had to approve it. Next morning I was told that they had expected the Everest to be equipped with a commonrail engine which it wasn't so the offer went down to 400 thousand. These 80 thousand Baht less value at the end of the ride reflect very well the discount I got six years ago for buying the old model while the new one, with the commonrail engine, was waiting already around the corner. So this time I expect the 30 thousand higher price to be stored away more safely in the car than in an average bank. Looking at what the buyer gets for these 30 thousand it might be very well possible that the price gap between new and old model will be widened in December untill the old model is sold out. A little bit like what happened when I bought the Ford six years ago. After that Mrs. MoonRiverOasis can harvest 555! She made a good investment, that's for sure! It is good to see that the ergonomical minus in the location of the tiptronic will be compensated by the paddles, at least now also in the GT 2wd version. I might seldom use them, but it's the idea 555! Limbo

In any case a white pearl 2WD GT is now going to cost 1,185,000 - 135,000 more than what the wife's cost just 18 months ago- so usef value will probably hit 1M in 2012 which means about 2,000 Baht/mth to own by the time we trade it

My two biggest concerns would be transmission and air-con. There's has been at least one recall (#10B15) due to transmission issues. Plus lots of complaints that can be researched online. With the oppressive heat in Thailand I would worry about air-con --- not something Ford are well known for. /having spent time in much warmer climates than Thailand I can verify American vehicles generally come second to the Japanese for air-con quality and reliability. Limbo
Confusing! Quite different at least concerning the 2wd GT: No 17 inch wheels, no 5 gear box auto, paddle shift maybe. Some other minor changes not mentioned even. Got a phone call this morning that I can have a look at the GT 2wd in blue and the manual gasoline version in black. Those options don't appear in your brochure either. Warranty reduced from 5 to 3 year ... Is it only a part of the brochure? MoonRiverOasis
Warranty reduced from 5 to 3 year ... Had to check on this one, but yes, only the standard 3yr/100K warranty is now included. The 5yr warranty was first introduced in March 2010 as a special promotion, and became standard in November 2010. It appears they're now backtracking to the 3yr warranty - no doubt to leave them room for another special promotion The 5yr/150K "Diamond Warranty" appears to be still available as a cost-option though - so maybe possible to try and get it included into the deal.. Not that it is so important, but you might have another brochure in front of your nose then the ones that are visible here on the forum. The "<" symbol might be on another brochure. Interesting interpretation though ..., but I must admit that 17 is more than 16 and that the size of the rims without any doubt will have some impact on the characteristics of the tyres. Please enlighten us. Your info comes from Mitsubishi Thailands web site and the page I shared here comes from a dealer and is more specific. To a certain degree they seem 'to bite' each other in the sense that the website version shows some emissions. Anyhow, the blue version looks good (darker than for instance the navy blue of the Honda Civic and there is indeed now a version with a manual gear shift and a gasoline 2,4 liter engine. And this information doesn't come from a brochure, but from physical encounters 555! If they agree to put the extra warranty among the 'freebees' I shall let you know. Limbo Dear MJCM, I only could speculate about the differences or the percieved difference between the two. It's a little bit like Kingtex versus Comfort, not everybody will have the same preference. MoonRiverOasis
Are there any advantages to have 17" instead of 16" on a PJS 2WD? As you go up in rim diameter, tire sidewall height decreases - which genrally translates into sharper turn in, improved steering feel, less sidewall flex (so less roll and "wallowing"), but also means a stiffer tire, so less compliant over the bumps. However, all of that also depends on the quality of the tires used. In the case of OEM tires, the differences between 16" and 17" is very marginal. 18"-20" is what's needed to make noticeable differences on the PJS. True if same quality of tires are fitted - but given how ordinary the OEM tires used in Thailand are, you can generally move up 2" on rim size for pickups/SUV's a lose practically nothing on ride quality so long as you're fitting a decent tire...
