cheeryble
Hi I want to find someone whose name appears on a chanoot. The chanoot is about ten years old. My GF has a friend working in a government dept and she got the last registered address. I shall just put Xs for the first three numbers. It was: XXX/13 Moo 1 Tambon Praksa Amphur Muang Samut Prakaan 10270 We sent it EMS from Chiangmai. I tracked it yesterday. It went to BKK to Samut Prakaan. It was then sent on to Bang Pu (which I think is Bang Bpau). It went out on delivery but is noted as "no such address". My friend tells me BKK addresses are notorious as they have changed and divided over the years. I really want to find this person. Does anyone have a great idea about what to do? thanks Cheeryble ps I can write address in Thai if you like but it's probably OK as is.....on the letter it was in Thai. keestha
Enquire at the Ampher in Samut Prakan if this person is on any tabbien ban (house registration book). This failing, the closest post office to this address should be able to tell if there ever was such house number, and where. Intriguing quest, keep us posted. This sounds interesting, and a personal search may be necessary. Will the Amphur have an easily searchable list of tabien baans? BTW all detectives out there.....my girlfriend made a relevant mistake which I noticed even with my lousy Thai. The chanoot transfer was made not 10 but 22 years ago. beano2274
The local government offices would know of a change of house and street numbers. My wife's Tambien Baan was looked at when we got her new ID Card, the boss there noticed the house number and street numbers had changed (2 years previous), they amended this in her Tambien Baan, so worth checking at the local Amphur first if the address has changed.
