j0rd
Some say Thailand has a holiday on April 13th because of Thailand, but secretly all Canadian's know this is because the NHL playoffs are starting. So with that said, which bars in Bangkok show the games? From a quick google of past years it seems that Larry's Dive Bar and Sports Academy have shown in the past. http://www.sabkk.com/ http://www.larrysdive.com/index.asp With that said, anyone know of bar's in bangkok which will have the NHL playoffs going on? Personally looking for Vancouver vs. Chicago games. NHL fans get in here. Let's make something out of this. Found some more promising bars: http://www.thesportcorner.com/schedule.htm http://www.bangkokpoolbar.com/index.php/en/live-sports Edited April 5, 2011 by j0rd
motoyen
I'm in for any Vancouver vs Chicago games. Let me know if you find any bars that are playing it. Game time in Vancouver is at 7:00pm which is 9:00AM here.

motoyen
Does anyone know if I can watch the Vancouver / Chicago game on TV? The next game is 05:00 on Wednesday. Is ASN playing any of the games?
motoyen
Bumping this thread to see if anyone wants to get together to watch the Stanley cup finals. I would love to see a Vancouver - Boston series. Two old hockey clubs going at it!!
lomatopo
ASN are showing NHL games, Vancouver v. Boston Sat. 07:00 live tom'w (Sat.) morning, replayed at 12:00 Noon, and 19:30. Not sure I've got the timing right, NHL website says 8 PM EDT (5:00 PM Vancouver?), 07:00 June 2 here, for game 1. The Tavern on Sukhumvit Soi 4 is open at that time and does show NHL playoff games. j0rd
Alright, sorry about not keeping up with this thread. I've had some Canadian friends in town and I've been watching the games with them. They're back in Vancouver now, so I'm looking to form a crew to watch the cup with. I've been watching games at Mulligans 24 hour Irish bar on Khao Sarn. For the early games they have a 160 THB breakfast buffet. The buffet kind of sucks, but you can get some fruit, bread, yogurt, coffee, eggs & bacon. Worth it just for the coffee & the game to be honest. Beers also available, for the early drinkers (or nail biting 3rd periods). Here's the link http://www.mulligansthailand.com/ ASN plays all the hockey games. It's in the TrueVisions Silver & Platinum package. ASN isn't included in the Gold package, which most smaller bars seem to have. You can check TrueVisionsTV.com for the ASN schedules. It's been wrong in the past, but usually is on point. http://www.truevisionstv.com/trueworld.aspx?key=&date=02/06/11&w=0&chid=108&pk=0&mode=3 (after loading, sort by time) Game #1 on at 7am, 12pm & 7pm on June 2nd. They all appear to have 3 hour time slots, so they should all be showing the entire game. In the previous rounds, if they didn't have a full 3 hour time slot, they'd usually switch to another program in the 3rd period. With that said, it looks like our options are open to The Tavern & Mulligans. I'm interested in seeing the game at 7am as if I don't my phone blows up with the results from friends back home. My vote is for Mulligans.
motoyen
I'm in for Mulligans. Also D'Pelican on Suk 22 has shown the games in the past. Woodstock Bar on Thonglor 13 might show them for the Boston games.
Spinning Dwarf
ASN plays all the hockey games. It's in the TrueVisions Silver & Platinum package. Thanks, I have switched (for one month) my TrueVision package to Silver in order to get ASN. Picture quality of replayed games is not great when viewed on a 46" HDTV. I may stick with the online streaming which can also feature the better CBC feed commentary rather than Versus. For those that are interested, on game day check here http://www.myp2pforum.eu/threads/57029-NHL-Today!-June-1st-2011-Stanley-Cup-Finals for links. http://www.sports-billet.eu has one of the better feeds (also for the NBA Finals games) Cheers, SD Edited June 1, 2011 by Spinning Dwarf
j0rd
I was at Mulligans for the first game, but I didn't see anyone else there. Managed to run into three tourist Vancouverites looking for the game, so we watched it together. The quality of the streams isn't great, but works. I used LiveTV.ru for the last game. I'll probably be going to mulligans for the next one, if anyone wants to join. But ya, as you mentioned the ASN has the US commentary which is fuc_king horrible. No wonder American's don't like hockey. Edited June 6, 2011 by j0rd
lomatopo
But ya, as you mentioned the ASN has the US commentary which is fuc_king horrible. No wonder American's don't like hockey. Whaddya expect from Canadian announcers? NBC’s NHL play-by-play/color announcers: Brian Paul Engblom (born January 27, 1955 in Winnipeg, Manitoba) James Kenneth Jackson (born February 1, 1960 in Oshawa, Ontario) Ken Daniels is a Canadian sportscaster and play-by-play announcer. Shocking trivia: The last time a Canadian team won the Stanley Cup? 1992/1993 season.
channyshort
We found this thread on google this morning and headed to Mulligans to watch the game, but the ladies running the bar said they couldn't get it live- I'm pretty sure that they just didn't want to play it though. She seemed pretty unimpressed that we were talking about hockey, haha! We're totally down for meeting up on Saturday to watch the Canucks redeem themselves though (hopefully!) so shoot a message up here if there is a group going down to check it out! j0rd
@channyshort the girls there are useless. Find the guy. Most of the staff know that hockey is on in the mornings, I've probably seen about 6 games there already and I'm usually not the only one there. The morning staff is useless and lazy as fuc_k, so just keep pestering them until they put it on. It's ASN channel which is between some channel between 100 and 120 (i think it's 106 or 108). @lomatopo just because the fact the announcers are Canadian, doesn't change the fact that they are in fact horrible at their jobs. Rather be listening to Jim Hughson over the games. Hughson also does commentary for Baseball. Don't believe me, check out the commentary over the same play: NBC Commentary for last goal in Game #1 Summary: ".....blank....played on back, challenged 3 and onside KESLER gave it on the cook (?) defeated (?) SCORES!!!! TORRES!!!!!" CBC Commentary for last goal in Game #1 Summary: proper play by play Those guys NBC don't provide any insightful information and pretty much just yell the players names louder as they get towards the net. They're even worse when nothing's going on in the game. I can only imagine trying to listening to these guys call a game over the radio, wouldn't work. Game #6 Gonna head to Mulligans for Game #6 at 7am on Tuesday morning June 14h if anyone would like to join me for early morning caesars. Shocking Trivia: Last time Canuck's won a Stanley Cup? Never. lomatopo
Congratulations to the 2010/2011 NHL Stanley Cup Champion Boston Bruins. It's been a long time since we hoisted the Cup. The duck boat parade should be great.
