Airline, Any Good.

My friend is coming to Thailand at xmas, he has had a good deal with Chinese Eastern Airline's, i think it was 550.00 Return, which sounds good, they fly 3 times per week out of London Heathrow, they fly to Shangai then onto Bangkok, just wondering if any of you guy's have used them and what do you think, my personal choice is Thai airlines, but i only use them because i have a frequent flyer card, and get a lot of upgrades.

i've used them before - they are OK. They get the job done. What can I say? It won't be nearly as good as thai and the food will be functional. I'm not sure about their safety record . Some of these Chinese airlines ... don't have a great reputation. Wonder if there is a website where it could be checked. though you don't want to scare your friend, huh!
